So after some careful thought I decided to change my front end to this machine. I went with Hyperspin. I decided this for several reasons. The most important one being the eye candy. Hyperspin just has the coolest GUI I have seen. When I seen the youtube video of it running I knew right away I had to get this running on my system. There is nothing wrong with Maximus, in fact I think Maximus is STILL the way to go for first time builders. Maximus is still very easy to setup when compared to Hyperspin. Hyperspin was actually sort of a pain to get going. In fact I still have some embarrassing bugs I need to work out. Mainly just emulator configs. The hardest part about Hyperspin was getting my romset to match the XML files used to define the Games library. That took me forever. Now I have an external hard drive with all the necessary files and roms ready to be copied to any other machine I decide to build in the future. Anyway, I did a 28 minute video on this last night. You can check it out HERE.
The Video below is myself explaining the trial and error aspect of getting Hyperspin to operate correctly.
